Polymarket and Kalshi each publish their own list of restricted countries, and governments add blocks of their own, so a country can be open on one platform, restricted on the other, or blocked by its regulator either way. As of September 2026, Kalshi's Member Agreement lists 55 restricted countries, and Polymarket's lists block or limit trading in dozens, including the United Kingdom, France and the United States, where residents use the separate Polymarket US app.
Polymarket and Kalshi both limit who can trade based on location, and governments add restrictions of their own. For 27 countries and the United States, this page sets out (a) what each platform's published rules say and (b) public regulator and court actions, each with a date and a source.
Start with the compare page, the fee calculator or large trades.
Each row shows a country's status under each platform's own published rules, plus any public regulator or court action we could source. The statuses:
Regulator actions show the authority as it names itself, what it did and the date: the date of the action where it was published, otherwise the date it was first reported. "No public action found" means our searches found none, not that none exists. Polymarket statuses follow its Help Center list (updated August 14, 2026), except South Korea, which only the developer docs name; each row notes where the two differ. Kalshi statuses follow its Member Agreement as fetched on September 24, 2026; the agreement itself is undated.
Every status and action in the table shows what kind of source it rests on and the date we last checked it:
Status under each platform's published rules and public regulator and court actions, as of September 24, 2026. Not legal advice.

There are three reasons a country can look different depending on where you check.
Regulators are also coordinating. In June 2026 gambling regulators from nine European countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland) issued a joint statement on enforcement against unlicensed prediction markets.
Beyond the 27 countries in the table, regulators or courts in Belgium, Switzerland, Romania, Hungary and Denmark have also blocked or blacklisted Polymarket. Of these, only Belgium is on Polymarket's own list.
The CFTC sued Connecticut, Arizona and Illinois in April 2026 over their actions against prediction markets, and after the Ninth Circuit ruling it said the split "calls out for resolution by the Supreme Court."
For more detail, see our Polymarket review and Kalshi review.
Check where you are physically located against Polymarket's published list. As of September 2026 that list blocks or limits trading in countries including the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Singapore, and in parts of Canada and Ukraine. Some regulators also block Polymarket where it isn't on that list, such as Spain, India and Turkey. US residents use the separate Polymarket US app. This is not legal advice.
Kalshi has accepted international members since October 2025, subject to its Member Agreement. As of September 2026 that agreement lists 55 restricted countries, including the UK, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, India, China and Singapore. Regulators in Brazil, Spain and Italy have also ordered blocks of Kalshi. Check Kalshi's current terms and your local law; this is not legal advice.
No. Polymarket's help center says that using a VPN to get around its restrictions violates its Terms of Use, and Kalshi's Member Agreement excludes people in its restricted jurisdictions. Getting around a block can also break local law. You don't need a VPN to research these markets: PolyKal's prices, order books and fee calculator don't require one.
Because PolyKal is a separate, read-only research site that shows public market data, and it doesn't restrict access by country. Viewing data is not trading: PolyKal doesn't place orders or give access to either platform, and a block on Polymarket or Kalshi still applies to trading there.
A platform's list is its own policy, and regulators act separately. Several countries not on Polymarket's list, including Spain, India, Portugal and Turkey, have ordered blocks or told Polymarket to stop. Polymarket's Help Center and its developer docs also don't fully match each other.
US residents can't trade on polymarket.com. The separate Polymarket US app operates as a CFTC-regulated designated contract market, but some states are challenging prediction markets in court, and a Nevada court has barred Polymarket from offering event contracts to Nevada residents without a gaming licence. This is not legal advice.
